Hungary's next government plans no reforms undermining the independence of the judiciary, Gergely Gulyas, the incoming government office chief, told Reuters on Tuesday. "Should there be any changes, that will not affect the constitutional requirement of judicial independence," he said. Gulyas, who currently heads ruling Fidesz's parliamentary group, said the government does not expect Hungary to face backlash from European Union authorities the way Poland has done, which has been locked in a legal battle with the European Commission over reforms affecting its judiciary.
