Guest nights fall in March, albeit from high base

The number of guest nights at commercial accommodations in Hungary fell by an annual 4.4 percent to 1,963,000 in March, the Central Statistical Office (KSH) said on Friday. KSH noted that the decline was from a high base. In March 2018, Hungarians enjoyed a four-day weekend for the March 15 national holiday, as well as the start of the Easter holiday. The number of guest nights spent by foreign visitors dropped by 4.1 percent to 998,000, while the number spent by domestic guests declined by 4.7 percent to 965,000.
