US National Security Adviser John Bolton, who met with the chief aide to Polish President Andrzej Duda, Krzysztof Szczerski, in Washington, wrote on Twitter that it was a great meeting. "Great meeting yesterday with my friend Krzysztof Szczerski, the Head of the Chancellery of the Polish President. We look forward to doing even more together in 2019," John Bolton wrote. Szczerski's talks with Bolton were a continuation of dialogue started by Presidents Duda and Donald Trump, and served "the building of consensus and positive climate with a view to the US decision on the deployment of US troops in Poland, expected next year." The Polish president's chief aide expressed his hope that "the permanent US military presence in Poland will have both a bilateral dimension as well as a regional one and an allied one within NATO."
