The coalition partners have asked Justice Minister Gabor Gal to avoid the topic of decriminalising marijuana, despite the fact that the minister himself would like to decriminalise certain cases, TASR learnt on Wednesday. Gal explained that his aim is to decriminalise the least serious cases of marijuana consumption. He argued that the follies of youth should not go unpunished, but youngsters who simply buy and smoke a joint should not be punished in a manner that would make them pay for their mistake for the rest of their lives.
