The Defence Ministry will continue to modernise the armed forces this year, launching the production of Zuzana 2 howitzers and adding weapons to UH-60M Black Hawk military helicopters, Defence Minister Peter Gajdos told TASR. "We want to see the armament of the military helicopters through, because as of now they can't provide supporting fire. We would like to have two machine guns mounted on every helicopter, so that they can provide support to ground and special forces, including paratroopers," Gajdos said, adding that plans also include arming helicopters with anti-tank missile systems and other self-defence systems. He clarified that currently Slovakia has four military helicopters and this year another 5 will be acquired.
