Former mayor assaulted, police looking for attacker

Police are looking for a man who on Monday morning attacked Wojciech Kudelski, former mayor of the Polish eastern city of Siedlce. The former mayor was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and was operated on. "The 70-year-old man was attacked by an unidentified perpetrator. We are analysing CCTV recordings to establish the course of events," spokesperson for the Mazowsze Province police Katarzyna Kucharska has told PAP. "It's terrible news. Now Mr Kudelski's health is what's most important," Beata Mazurek, spokesperson for the ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party, told PAP.
