Former Czech minister given suspended sentence for voucher scheme abuse

Former Czech regional development minister Rostislav Vondruska was given a one-year suspended sentence with a 2.5-year probation for having used gift vouchers paid by the CzechTourism state agency for personal purposes by a Prague district court on Tuesday. Vondruska must also cover the damage of some 149,000 crowns. The verdict has not taken effect as both the state attorney and Vondruska took time for considering an appeal.
