Fico reportedly hospitalised

March 13th, 2019

Smer-SD leader and ex-premier Robert Fico is having health problems again and has been admitted to a specialised health-care facility in Bratislava, two independent sources have confirmed for TASR. Fico's health problems are allegedly behind the scrapping of Wednesday's Coalition Council meeting. Smer-SD has not confirmed the information to TASR. Its spokesman Jan Mazgut said the meeting had been cancelled based on an agreement between the coalition partners. The Coalition Council is scheduled to meet next week, Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini has said. In the spring of 2016 Fico was admitted into the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NUSCH) in Bratislava, where he underwent an unspecified heart operation.
