Smer-SD leader and former Slovak prime minister Robert Fico refused to reveal at a press conference on Tuesday whether he met businessman Marian K., who is currently being tried for ordering the murder of journalist Jan Kuciak, to arrange the election of the prosecutor-general in parliament in 2011. "If there's anything, you should publish it," Fico told journalists, adding that they should "stop bothering him with rubbish". Fico reiterated that he met Marian K. several times at media events, while rebuking the media for allegedly having "created Marian K." Fico did not provide an unequivocal response when asked whether he had testified to police on the issue.
