Fewer young Czechs smoke thanks to anti-smoking law

August 13th, 2019

The anti-smoking law that banned smoking in Czech pubs two years ago has markedly influenced the young generation, but older people keep smoking cigarettes, Health Minister Adam Vojtech told today's issue of daily Mlada fronta Dnes (MfD). "In the age group from 15 to 24, in which the smoking addiction develops, there is an up to 15-percent decrease in the number of smokers," Vojtech said. For the first time since 2012, this age group is not the one with the highest number of smokers, he added.
