An exhibit titled "20 Years of Poland in NATO" was opened by Speaker of the Senate (upper house) Stanislaw Karczewski and Deputy Defence Minister Wojciech Skurkiewicz in the Senate on Wednesday. Karczewski said that the display drew attention to the great support of Poles for the country's membership in NATO. After 20 years in NATO, Poland not only has security but also provides it, he said. "For us Poles, the maintenance of security is a priority. The Law and Justice (PiS) government will look after the security of Poland and the security of this part of Europe," he added. Deputy Defence Minister Wojciech Skurkiewicz said that the anniversary marking the joining of the largest and, probably, the most important military alliance in the world is "especially vital for Poland."
