EP's European Citizens' Prize goes to Hungarian family association

The European Parliament has recognised NOE, the national association of Hungarian large families, with its European Citizens' Prize for the association's endeavours over the past 30 years. According to a statement signed by MEPs of Hungary's ruling Fidesz party, Kinga Gal and Gyorgy Holvenyi, NOE has been instrumental in linking together and strengthening families, proving that families with several children "are an asset and have a crucial role both in Hungarian society and Europe". "The family is the strongest cornerstone of a strong Europe," the statement said. Europe should build societies with families at its centre and enact every measure with regard to the needs of parents, the statement added.
