The European Parliament (EP) approved a resolution calling on the European Commission (EC) to take steps in the case of Czech PM Andrej Babis's suspected conflict of interest today. The adopted text, submitted jointly by the EP groups of the European People's Party, the Conservatives and the Greens, demands that the EU subsidies for the Babis-related Agrofert group be suspended. Agrofert spokesman Karel Hanzelka said the EP resolution is a political affair that has no legal importance for Agrofert. "We draw the subsidies according to law and the conditions we meet and based on signed agreements. It would be absurd if somebody addressed us and said No, this is not valid for you anymore," Hanzelka told CTK.
