Energy office ex-section head acquitted of power abuse charges

June 24th, 2020

The Olomouc High Court definitively acquitted the former head of the licensing section of the Czech Energy Regulatory Office (ERU), Michaela Schneidrova, of power abuse charges in the case of the irregular granting of licences to two solar power plants in north Bohemia on Wednesday. The appeals court upheld the verdict of the Regional Court in Brno. Schneidrova was originally sentenced to seven years in prison, but the Supreme Court (NS) returned the case to the regional one for reappraisal. Former ERU chairwoman Alena Vitaskova was also charged in this case. She was acquitted last November.
