EC Vice President Frans Timmermans, during Tuesday's hearing on Poland at the General Affairs Council, underscored the European Commission's remaining doubts regarding the rule of law in Poland and said that dialogue on the matter must be continued. At Wednesday's press conference, EC spokesperson Margaritis Schinas explained that according to Timmermans, Poland's recent reversal of a Supreme Court reform was a step in the right direction made by Warsaw after the EU Court of Justice issued a ruling on interim measures concerning the contested reform. However, Timmermans noted that the relevant bill had not yet been signed into law by the Polish president.
