EC approves subsidies for Czech bark-beetle-hit forest owners

The European Commission (EC) has supported subsidies for the Czech private owners of the forests hit by the bark beetle, Agriculture Ministry spokesman Vojtech Bily told CTK today. This year, the ministry wants to pay 1.5-billion-crown subsidies in total to the private forest owners to compensate them for lower wood market prices due to the bark-beetle calamity, which caused the over-abundance of wood.
