Doctor denies recommending other check-ups to Zeman over cancer

Medical doctor and court expert Pavel Slampa denies having recommended further check-ups to President Milos Zeman over the risk of a malignant tumour, Slampa said in a statement sent to CTK in reaction to media reports. As a court expert, Slampa wrote in his opinion that a medical examination of Zeman from November 2017 did not confirm either an advanced or early stage of a malignant tumour. Slampa assessed Zeman's health condition in connection with a dispute with Brno local politician Svatopluk Bartik who wrote on Facebook in 2017 that Zeman was dying of cancer. Bartik wrote on Facebook at the end of 2017, before the presidential election, that Zeman had cancer and that he only had a few months to live. The Presidential Office called Bartik's words on Zeman's health mendacious and filed a legal complaint against Bartik.
