The European Parliament (EP) wants to couple the EU member states' access to funding with the condition of the rule of law in the country because "it wants to have an element to play with," Polish presidential minister Andrzej Dera told commercial television on Friday. On Thursday, the European Parliament voted to make access to EU funds conditional on the state of the rule of law in the country. Under the proposal, the European Commission (EC) will determine, with the help of a panel of independent experts. The EC may reduce pre-financing of withhold funds in answer of infringements.
