Czechs must register in UK to gain settled status

January 31st, 2020

Czech citizens who wish to live in the UK must register before mid-2021 in order to gain settled status that allows them to work and study in the country as well as use its health and social systems, the Labour and Social Affairs Ministry told CTK on Friday. The ministry said that the current UK system of employment and social support will stay the same until the end of 2020. "Czechs who want to continue living in the UK after June 30, 2021 must register in the EU Settlement Scheme. If their application is approved, they will gain pre-settled or settled status, the ministry said. Czechs who have a permanent residence permit do not have to register. The registration is already open and the UK government has published detailed information written in Czech on its website.
