The Czech Republic is among the countries that have signed a resolution expressing support for the International Criminal Court (ICC), Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zuzana Stichova told CTK on Tuesday. Czech judge Robert Fremr is the first deputy chairman of the ICC, which has jurisdiction to prosecute individuals for the international crimes of genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes, and the crime of aggression. According to Reuters, the resolution, worked out by Switzerland and Costa Rica, is a reaction to US President Donald Trump saying that any ICC investigation of possible US war crimes committed during the late-2001 invasion of Afghanistan will be met with economic sanctions and travel bans targeted against ICC employees involved.
