A 10 percent pay rise police staff and firefighters are to receive as of November will cost some 451 million crowns in central spending this year and 2.9 billion in 2018, a government decree released to CTK shows. The average pay of police officers and firefighters was some 35,000 crowns before the hike. The police corps employs about 40,000 people, while the fire corps has more than 9,700.
