Czech finance minister to propose 3 pc wage rise for next year

August 28th, 2019

Finance Minister Alena Schillerova will propose an approximately 3 percent increase in salaries in the Czech public sphere next year instead of the originally planned 2 percent increase, the public broadcaster Czech Television (CT) reported on Wednesday. Schillerova said the salaries should be higher because of the higher estimate of inflation. Miloslava Vostra, who heads the lower house budgetary committee, told CTK she would like the salaries to rise by 5 percent in 2020. She welcomed what Schillerova said about the increase in salaries in the public sphere but pointed out that this increase would not be above inflation.
