Czech court sentences escaped Russian to 18 years for murder

January 14th, 2020

The Prague Municipal Court sentenced Russian Ramil Aliyev to 18 years in prison today for the murder of an Azerbaijani businessman in the Prague Holesovice district in June 2017, with the verdict not yet legally effective as it may be appealed and Aliyev is prosecuted as a fugitive. "The court has no doubts about his guilt," court panel chairwoman Vlasta Langamerova said, adding that although there was no direct evidence provided during the court proceedings, there is ample indirect evidence that Aliyev killed the Azerbaijani.
