Czech court imposes suspended sentence on couple for dog mistreatment

A Czech court on Tuesday imposed suspended two-year prison sentences with a three-year probation on Jirina and Jaroslav Svec for the mistreatment of dogs, more than 200 of which veterinaries found in the couple's house, all in extremely poor condition, earlier this year. The court also banned the Svecs from keeping dogs for 10 years. The verdict is not yet binding. The Svecs faced up to five years in prison. The state attorney proposed a suspended sentence for them because both had a clean criminal record and also regarding their age and financial situation.
