Czech's awareness of the Istanbul Convention on elimination of violence against women, now waiting for official ratification, is very low, with 68 percent not knowing what its purpose, according to the results of a CVVM poll released today. Only 17 percent of Czechs know that the convention's purpose is to eliminate violence against women, a 5-percent increase since the last poll conducted last December. The Istanbul Convention was created in 2011 to denounce domestic violence, sexual harassment, rape, forced marriage, honour crimes and genital mutilation.
