Crime in the cyber space rose by 400 percent in the Czech Republic in the past seven years, the director of the Interior Ministry crime prevention department, Michal Barborik, told journalists today. In 2011, the police registered 1,500 criminal acts committed on the Internet, but the figure surged to almost 7,000 by 2018, Barborik said. However, some 90 percent of cyber crime is hidden, he added. The overall crime rate has been falling in past years, but cyber crime has been on a steep rise.
