Coronavirus still spreading at record pace in Czech Republic

Another 1,161 Covid-19 cases were registered in the Czech Republic on Wednesday, two fewer than on the record day of Tuesday, according to the data the Health Ministry released early in the morning. The number of active infections stands at 10,218, the highest it has been since the start of the epidemic. In most cases, the course of the illness is mild. However, the number of patients being treated in hospital for Covid-19 has soared in the past weeks. In the past month it more than doubled, while the number of those in a serious condition more than tripled. At present, 244 people are in hospital, 57 of whom are in a serious condition. A total of 31,036 cases have been registered and over 20,000 people have recovered. The number of fatalities stands at 444.
