Consumer prices in Slovakia up 3 pc y-o-y and 1.2 pc m-o-m in January

Consumer prices increased by 3 percent year-on-year in January, the Statistic Office reported on Friday. Prices increased in the following categories: in transport - by 5.6 percent; in education - by 4.9 percent; in food and non-alcoholic beverages - by 4.4 percent; in various goods and services - by 3.2 percent; in recreation and culture - by 2.9 percent; in housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels - by 2.8 percent; in postal services - by 2.1 percent; in restaurants and hotels - by 2 percent; in alcoholic beverages and tobacco - by 1.9 percent; in furniture, housing accessories and maintenance - by 1.7 percent; in health care - by 1.4 percent; and in clothing and footwear - by 1 percent.
