Constitution Day (September 1) is superfluous as a public holiday, given the fact that Slovakia celebrates its independence on January 1, Parliamentary Chairman Richard Sulik told TASR on Thursday. "I can imagine celebrating the holiday only once. Frankly, I don't think that [Constitution Day] is the most important holiday. I believe that pupils should begin the new school year on September 1," said Sulik. The parliamentary chair, along with Prime Minister Iveta Radicova and several ministers, attended an Open Day at the government office on Constitution Day.
