The current Middle East crisis should not become the subject of a political battle in Slovakia, President Zuzana Caputova said on Wednesday, calling on all the involved parties to keep in mind not only possible short-term political gains but also Slovakia's good reputation, Slovak soldiers and the overall security situation when making statements. "The killing of Iranian [Major-General Qasem Soleimani] carried out by the US army as well as Iran's actions in the region demonstrate that any use of force only escalates the tension and that this could significantly impact the stability not only of the region but also the situation far beyond its borders," Caputova said.
