Slovak President Zuzana Caputova drew attention to Belarus when marking International Day of Democracy on Tuesday, saying on Twitter that government authority was not based exclusively on the majority but should instead guarantee the rights of minorities, the weak and vulnerable. "DemocracyDay2020 let's remember that government authority isn't just based on the majority. Democracy means a guarantee of the rights of those in a minority, the weak and the vulnerable. I'm especially thinking of people in #Belarus and everyone who suffers from authoritarian oppression," she wrote.
