The climate crisis "is not the only thing that troubles us regarding the environment", President Zuzana Caputova told an international conference on forests and wilderness on Wednesday, highlighting the issues of a biodiversity crisis and species extinction. "We're the first generation to feel the impacts of the climate crisis and the last one able to do something about it," the president told the Wild Europe Conference in Bratislava. Caputova also pointed to illegal logging in forests and the loss of indigenous ecosystems, old forests and primeval forests not only in Slovakia, but also in the European Union as a whole.
