All Slovak parties agree to scrap MPs' criminal immunity as of September

May 16th, 2012

MPs' immunity from prosecution vis-a-vis all crimes will be scrapped as of September 1 after representatives of all parliamentary parties agreed on Wednesday to amend the Constitution to that effect, Christian Democrat (KDH) MP Radoslav Prochazka said on the same day. That said, legislators will remain secure from possible prosecution for statements made in Parliament and its bodies as well as for the way in which they vote. The amendment to the Constitution is to be submitted to a House session in June, with 90 votes needed for it to pass.
