Having declared a 'climate alert,' a group of activists blocked a downtown Warsaw street on Monday morning as part of a protest organised by the Extinction Rebellion movement. The Swietokrzyska St. was impassable in both directions. The blockade started at 10am. At noon, police announced that all protesters had been removed from street lanes and that normal traffic had been restored. Police have launched proceedings against persons blocking the street. Spokesman for Warsaw police Sylwester Marczak said that no one had been detained, but added that police had fined some persons.
