Zeman appoints judge Simka as Supreme Administrative Court head

February 2nd, 2022

President Milos Zeman appointed judge Karel Simka as the new chairman of the Czech Supreme Administrative Court (NSS) today. Prime Minister Petr Fiala previously announced that Simka would occupy the post, adding that he had countersigned President Milos Zeman's decision on Simka's appointment. During the ceremony, Zeman warned of the politicising of the NSS and its expanding beyond the boundaries of its powers. This tendency harms the reputation of the court system and provokes comments on "judiocracy" and "the third house of parliament," Zeman added.
