Slovak Alpine skier Petra Vlhova, who won the gold medal in the women's slalom at the Winter Olympic Games in China last week, decided to withdraw completely from the ongoing games at the weekend, citing ankle tendinitis. According to her coach Mauro Pini, Vlhova has been troubled with the ailment since November, and it got worse after she won the slalom event at the Olympics. "She'll return to Slovakia, where she'll undergo treatment. She wants to stay at home for several days so that she can share her emotions from the Olympics with her relatives and draw the energy needed for the difficult final phase of the World Cup," said Pini.
