Visegrad Group pledges to form EU Battlegroup by 2016

The defence ministers of the Visegrad Group (V4) on Friday signed an official statement on forming a joint battlegroup of more than 3000 members within the European Union by 2016, Czech Defence Minister Alexandr Vondra said. We want to build a battlegroup for EU forces by mid-2016," he said about the group comprising Hungarian, Polish, Slovak and Czech soldiers. Vondra said the joint unit commanded by Poland would have its first training in late 2015.
