The Pact of Free Cities has offered membership to the Ukrainian capital Kiev, Bratislava mayor Matus Vallo posted on a social network on Wednesday. The members of the pact see it as "an expression of solidarity with the citizens of Ukraine, who are facing today an enormous Russian pressure and a threat of war," wrote Vallo. The Pact of Free Cities was created by the mayors of Bratislava, Prague, Warsaw and Budapest. In 2021, another 20 European capitals joined the founding cities, claiming allegiance to the group's common values.
