V4, Slovenian PMs support EU enlargement by Western Balkans

July 9th, 2021

The prime ministers of the Visegrad Four (V4) countries, Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary and Poland, agreed with their Slovenian counterpart Janez Jansa on the necessity to enlarge the EU by the Western Balkan countries, Czech PM Andrej Babis told a press conference after their joint talks today. He said he cannot understand why the EU countries such as Bulgaria, Croatia and Romania had not been admitted to the Schengen Area yet. The heads of government also debated the coronavirus pandemic. The daily rises in new coronavirus case are high now, but have not been reflected in hospitalisations yet, Babis said. The main task is to persuade all to get vaccinated against COVID-19, he stressed.
