US secretary of state, EC congratulate Poland on May 3 Constitution

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and the European Commission congratulated Poland on the occasion of the 228th anniversary of the Constitution of May 3 on Friday. "On behalf of the Government of the United States of America, I extend my congratulations and best wishes to the people of Poland on the occasion of your 228th Constitution Day," Pompeo wrote on the State Department's website. Pompeo noted that the May 3 Constitution was "widely regarded as one of the first modern constitutions in Europe," and, in his opinion "represents an historic landmark in your country's pursuit of freedom and democracy." The European Commission also tweeted its best wishes.
