A total of twelve Slovaks received Israel's honorific title of Righteous Among the Nations in Pezinok on Monday evening for saving Jewish lives during the Holocaust, the Israeli Embassy in Slovakia said. The title was bestowed on Antonia Nikodemova, Anton Balaz, Olga Balazova, Oliver Racz, Jan Makony, Anna Makonyova, Pavel Petroch, Jan Bukov, Maria Bukovova, Jozef Fekiac, Jan Spevak and Maria Spevakova. Their names will be inscribed on the Wall of Honor in the Garden of the Righteous at Yad Vashem in Jerusalem. In total, the awardees saved the lives of 22 Jews, including ten children.
