Trnava-Slovan derby suspended after hooligans brawl on pitch

Sunday's Fortuna liga rivalry match between home team FC Spartak Trnava and away side SK Slovan Bratislava, second and first in the table, respectively, was suspended following approximately 15 minutes of goalless play when hundreds of fans of both teams invaded the pitch and engaged in violent skirmishes. Although the stadium staff finally managed to chase the hooligans off the pitch, the situation calmed down only when riot police cleared the sector holding the away fans, who continued to hurl flares onto the pitch despite calls from the police and the announcer to stop.
