Poland's deputy foreign minister has described talk of a "Polexit" as "political fiction", stressing that Poland has no plans to leave the EU. The country's fraught relationship with Brussels has come under renewed strain after Poland, along with Hungary, vetoed the next EU budget owing to it containing a clause linking funding with respect for the rule of law. The veto prompted speculation that it might trigger a process leading to Poland's departure from the EU. "We have no plans for Poland to depart from the European Union," Szymon Szynkowski vel Sek told a Polish public radio broadcaster on Monday. "Speaking about Polexit is political fiction."
