Christian culture and morality face many challenges today but Europe can only regain its strength and competitiveness if it returns to its Christian foundations, Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto said on Friday in the city of Gyor, in north-western Hungary. Speaking at the inauguration of the Gergely Czuczor Benedictine High School's refectory, the minister said Hungary could only stay strong in the face of global changes if it preserved its national identity and retained its historical heritage and Christian roots. "We Hungarians are right to be proud of having been a Christian state for a thousand years as that has played a role in surviving as a state," Szijjarto said.
