The 48th Summer Film School (LFS), Czechia's biggest no-competition film festival, got under way in Uherske Hradiste on Friday, with about 180 films on offer, its programme director Jan Jilek said at the opening press conference. Last year, the festival had almost 5,000 visitors, and the organisers expect their number to be similar or higher this year. The guests at the festival will be Irish film maker and script writer Jim Sheridan, Turkish film maker Semih Kaplanoglu, German script writer and film director Eliza Petkova, Polish film maker Wojciech Smarzowski, Slovak visual artist Maria Judova, Argentinian film critic Pablo De Vita and also Anton Dolin, a film critic and historian who emigrated from Russia earlier this year.
