Even though high gas prices could cause existential problems to a number of the 330 heating plants in the country that have not secured additional gas supplies in advance and will have to buy gas at the current rates as a result, the state is ready to take over those heat plants that could go bankrupt, Economy Minister Richard Sulik (SaS) said on Monday. According to Sulik, the vast majority of Slovak heat plants have purchased gas supplies in advance for appropriate prices, but some have not as they relied on the fact that the spot price would be lower than the long-term price and now they find themselves in a difficulty.
