STAN deputy head Michalik suddenly dies at age of 59

Mayors and Independents (STAN) deputy chairman Veslav Michalik died on Sunday at the age of 59, STAN leader Vit Rakusan has said on Twitter. "Veslav Michalik died, STAN deputy chairman, a wonderful mayor of Dolni Brezany and my good friend," Rakusan said, expressing condolences to his family and friends. News portal Neovlivni.cz said Michalik suddenly died in the afternoon during a mountain trip. After the general election held last autumn, Michalik was originally to become industry and trade minister, but he gave up his nomination over a lack of clarity over his previous business and a possible conflict of interest.
