The rise in food prices might exceed 20 percent in the autumn, Slovak Agriculture and Food Chamber (SPPK) director Emil Macho told a news conference on Tuesday. "We expect this year inflation in foodstuffs to attack the level of 20 percent. From the viewpoint of food producers we can say that Slovaks are beginning to prefer cheaper foodstuffs and foodstuffs with lower added value, they don't buy premium brands," Macho said. As an example, he gave milk products, with people buying less butter and beginning to focus on margarines or spreads with a higher share of vegetable fats.
