A pre-trial judge of the Specialised Criminal Court (STS) in Pezinok (Bratislava region) on Thursday morning decided to remand Marian M. [name abbreviated for legal reasons ] in custody due to concerns that he might continue to commit crimes, STS spokesperson Katarina Kudjakova told TASR. The decision is not yet binding, as the defendant has appealed it at the Supreme Court. "The court rejected his application to replace custody with a written promise," said Kudjakova. Marian M. was arrested by the National Crime Agency (NAKA) on Monday on suspicion of committing 37 counts of extremism between 2017 and 2021. The crimes were related mostly to the production and dissemination of extremist materials and denying the Holocaust.
