SPD to file complaint against Bohemia Energy over suspected fraud

November 2nd, 2021

The Czech opposition Freedom and Direct Democracy (SPD) movement is going to file a criminal complaint against the Bohemia Energy company, its owner and boards' members on Tuesday on suspicion of fraud, SPD spokeswoman Barbora Stastna has told CTK. The Bohemia Energy group, the Czech Republic's biggest alternative energy supplier, ended operation in mid-October, forcing some 900,000 clients to seek a new supplier. As the reason for its step, the group mentioned the steady steep rise in the wholesale prices of energy. The clients are automatically receiving supplies from other companies, so-called last resort suppliers, pending their choice of a new regular supplier. Many clients complain about their advance payments for energy having shot up excessively.
